Peter Tatchell, a leading international human rights campaigner, welcomed the ICC’s decision, describing it as a “landmark moment for global LGBT+ rights.”
“For decades, LGBT+ people have been invisible and ignored in the quest for international justice. This move by the ICC finally recognizes that homophobic and transphobic persecution is a crime against humanity. It’s a game-changer.”
